Here's a quick rundown of the events and programs we have sponsored since forming in Oct. 2001.

Oct. 27, 2001: Blanket collection for Afghan refugees collects and sends 711 blankets and $5500 for food. Over 100 people attend.

Dec. 1, 2001: Kit collection for refugees worldwide makes, stuffs and sends 456 kits (relief, health, school, newborn & sewing), 22 boxes of other items, and another 216 blankets and $1039 for Afghan refugees. A simultaneous art sale generates $1273 for RAWA, the Revolutionary Association of Women of Afghanistan. Over 100 people attend.

May 11, 2002: Ethnic Afghan Dinner with speaker Doug Hostetter, who trucked aid into northern Afghanistan while the bombs fell, raises $5150 for seeds and tools for returning Afghan farmers. (Due to continuing drought, this money was spent instead on a prosthetics clinic in Afghanistan.) 175 people attend.

June, 2002: continuing donations have brought the total raised for Afghans to $21,026.

Nov. & Dec. 2002: Holiday Handicraft Sales and Rug Raffle. Profits plus donations bring in $1690, enough to sponsor 15 Afghan widows to enroll in a 3-month course in sewing and literacy, with graduation gifts of a sewing machine and a work table.

Feb. 15, 2003: Energy Fair to enlist people in the effort to save lives in the future by cutting back on CO2 emissions now!

May 8, 2003: Collection of aid for Iraqi children.

Nov. 2003: Fund raising for a water project in Iraq.
